Happy Fourth

Where has this week gone?  It’s now Wednesday, and tomorrow is the Fourth of July.  I had planned to have the table set and a group for dinner, but instead I will be helping my Sis with a whole bunch of food, which I will cook tomorrow morning.  Today I did the shopping and made Mom’s Cheesecake.  Oh, and there were two mini cakes left over, perfect for my parents after dinner tonight.

The last two days I have meant to pop this book in the mail to a friend, and it’s been in my basket during the day; but this afternoon as I made the cheesecake, the light was perfect through the kitchen window; oh how I love the light, and this classic French book~

The leeks are from Chino Farm last weekend; for the quiches I have yet to make but I will.  I debate if I should cover these handles in leather; they are so pretty though in shades of honey and straw in the late afternoon summer sun~

The X geometric detail on the front of this basket is what pulls me in, and it’s also a compact size.  Oh and the texture too.  And durability.  And handmade and organic.  Love love love, and will order in my next shipment so you can have one too.

I’ll take many photos tomorrow.  I will be making a clafoutis, Italian lemon torta, flourless chocolate cake and an apricot crumble tomorrow, as well as ribs and chicken and styling my own setting under the loggia.  Enjoy your Fourth of July~~

  1. Hi Andrea,
I meant to call you last night and the time got away from me. I was making a special salad for today. Isabella and I did not make the goat cheese because Trader Joes and Whole Foods only had Ultra-Pasteurized Goats Milk. We will have to go out about an hour away to a farm for it.

Adore the basket and the book!! A friend in San Diego has her home done with scads of Pierre Deux!

Have a wonderful 4th!! Dinner sounds delish!

  2. Oh I am thinking about the delicious leek quiches we made in Beaune ala Julia. Heaven on a plate.

As for today my table is set. Traditional fare of ribs, beans, green salad, corn on the cob, spiced apples and berry trifle is planned.

  5. I hope that you had a great Fourth of July. Those mini cakes look fantastic, great photo. These are some great pictures of the basket, the natural effect of the sunlight is really appealing. I would love see a photo of the quiche as well, I am a huge fan.
